Alicia Keys Teases New Songs at Small Show Ahead of Art Fair – NBC 7 San Diego

R&B singer-songwriter Alicia Keys took a few hundred people through a 10-minute meditation at a small show in Miami before asking them to make some decisions.
Keys wanted concertgoers to gather for an impressive exhibition on the eve of Art Basel Miami Beach to hear her new material and then choose either the relaxing piano versions the Grammy-winning artist is best known for or the more heavily produced tracks along with another beat for the same songs.
“I say it is,” Keys said, seemingly surprised after singing “Is it Insane” and then playing a few pieces, a jazzy and melancholy melody. The three songs she teased will appear on her new album which will be released on December 10th with two versions called “Originals” and “Unlocked”, produced by Mike WiLL Made-It.
Keys wore a long, yellow dress and was headlining an experience art show at Superblue Miami and appeared as one of the leading actors who wandered to Miami for the international art fair, which takes place Thursday through Saturday.
Rapper Tinie Tempah was among the performers attending the “secret” Alicia Keys concert in a dark room with sunflowers projected on the walls. Celebrity guests at the Louis Vuitton fashion show the night before included Maluma, Pharrell and Joe Jonas.
Keys and her husband, producer Swizz Beatz, are no strangers to the art fair as they’ve supported struggling artists so they can keep 100 percent of their assignments from the show.
One of the installations in the exhibit where Keys appeared was by James Turrell and featured a room with the floor, walls and ceiling lit entirely in uniform neon colors that sometimes looked foggy and made it difficult to see where the room was ended. There was also a maze of mirrors designed to resemble the respiratory system of trees.
During the meditation portion of the evening, Keys asked guests to breathe in and out at the same rate as those mechanical flowers hanging from the ceiling opened and closed. Keys said they looked like jellyfish in the ocean.
