Twelve people will be tried in Paris in 2016 for a $ 10 million jewelry heist against Kim Kardashian West, authorities said on Friday.
The reality TV star said she was handcuffed at gunpoint and locked in a bathroom after armed robbers broke into her rented Paris apartment during Fashion Week.
After five years of investigation, the investigating judges have ordered the case to be brought to justice, a judicial officer said on Friday. The twelve suspects face a number of charges related to the theft. A trial date was not set and the officer refused to provide any further details.
A representative from Kardashian West declined to comment.
Several suspects have been released from prison on health grounds, including 68-year-old Yunice Abbas, one of the five men accused of carrying out the robbery himself, who published a book about it last year.
The alleged mastermind, Aomar Ait Khedache, wrote a letter of apology from his prison cell to Kardashian West saying he regrets his actions and acknowledges the psychological damage he has caused.
At the time, a spokeswoman for Kardashian West said she was badly shaken, but physically unharmed.
