THE ANGEL–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Bird Global, Inc. (NYSE: BRDS), a leading green e-mobility company, today announced the launch of its accessible mobility program in San Diego with Scootaround, a global leader in personal transportation solutions. The aim of the partnership is to offer people with disabilities safe, environmentally friendly mobility solutions on demand.

San Diego visitors and residents with disabilities can now find, reserve, and pay for a selection of accessible vehicles through a custom interface right within the Bird app. Thanks to the partnership between Bird and Scootaround, high-quality, barrier-free vehicles such as the award-winning WHILL Ci2 model will be available exclusively via the Bird app at special prices. The vehicle availability combined with special pricing is designed to ensure Bird meets the micromobility needs of all San Diegan residents, including nearly 10% of the community with a disability.

“Bird’s commitment to improving sustainable mobility access for all means working with industry experts whose mission is our own, including Scootaround and Easterseals,” said Rebecca Hahn, Bird’s chief corporate social responsibility officer. “Together with Scootaround, we are able to offer people with disabilities a trustworthy, personal transport service on demand. This is incredibly important to our team, and we believe it is just as valuable to the communities we serve. ”

As part of their service, Bird also offers a toll-free service to answer questions that individuals have in order to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. When the vehicle is handed over, the drivers receive a personal 1: 1 tutorial on how to safely operate the micro-electric vehicle to ensure that they feel comfortable and safe with the use, charging and storage of their vehicle during the entire rental period.

San Diego is the third city that Bird has launched this new service with Scootaround, following successful pilot programs in the Bronx and San Francisco. Bird’s move to expand accessible mobility on demand for all passengers coincides with International Day of People with Disabilities, which will be celebrated on December 3, 2021.

The launch of the San Diego program marks the latest in Bird’s efforts to fulfill its mission to provide environmentally friendly transportation for all. Bird is committed to bringing this innovative and necessary service to more cities around the world.
