The UC San Diego Faculty Club – a retreat for colleagues to exchange ideas over meals and conversations – will reopen on November 1st with new menu offers, a redesigned outdoor area and special offers.
After a temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, campus will soon be welcoming faculty and campus community members back for dining, reconnecting, hosting meetings, and more. The club recently partnered with UC San Diego Housing Dining and Hospitality to bring tempting new menus for breakfast and lunch to guests.
The Faculty Club has partnered with UC San Diego Housing Dining and Hospitality to create new menus for breakfast and lunch.
New menu items include an avocado BLT sandwich, a quinoa and kale salad, and pasta primavera, to name a few. For a sweet treat, the Faculty Club’s dessert selection offers options such as a peach crumble sundae and a peanut butter chocolate bar. The new menu also offers vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
With the COVID-19 security guidelines, the club’s traditional buffet has been transformed into table service. Guests who are on the move can use mobile ordering as a convenient take-away option, which is available via the Triton2Go mobile ordering app.
When visitors enter the club, they are now greeted by a newly renovated interior as well as a redesigned outdoor area for al fresco dining. Guests also have a variety of dining options to choose from, including significant outdoor seating. In addition to the main dining room, the club offers six private meeting rooms, Cecil’s lounge and terrace, the Seuss library, the Atkinson pavilion and an inner courtyard.
As part of a campaign to welcome new faces to the long-running campus festival, university faculty, staff, and graduate students are encouraged to attend the UC San Diego Faculty Club through December with no membership required. The club’s food and drink offer is available to all visitors at cost price.
The Faculty Club currently offers the following doctorate:
- Regardless of membership status, the club is open to all lecturers, employees and doctoral students in the autumn quarter.
- No membership fee until January 2022.
- Members continue to receive reduced prices for food and drinks.
Lynda Claassen, president of the faculty club at UC San Diego, said she hopes community members returning to campus this fall will find the club a relaxing place amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The menu includes a variety of salads, sandwiches, pasta and more.
“I like going to the faculty club because it’s a quiet place to have lunch, chat, and meet friends,” she said, pondering her favorite aspects of the venue.
From November 1st, the Faculty Club will be open for lunch from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The breakfast service in the courtyard begins the following week on November 8th from 7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
In addition, the Faculty Club is holding its traditional member holiday party on December 11th from 5pm to 7pm. New and existing members are invited to attend a festive event with music, raffle prizes, and more.
