Diane Berberian, a seasoned elite runner and Ironman triathlete, is about to go to the hospice with a cancer diagnosis.
But while she’s spent the past few months ticking things off her bucket list, one big one remained: talking to her favorite musician (and Philadelphia native), Pink.
And the Grammy-winning musician made it possible
“I admire that she’s a woman who seeks her truth; she’s strong, she’s brave, and these are the Philadelphia girls,” Berberian told NBC News.
The couple recently talked on Zoom for half an hour, and she posted part of that chat on Facebook on November 27th with the comment, “THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TAKE THE TIME TO TRY … OUR DREAM COME TRUE . “!!!!! Pink sang We Are the Champions. Will try to share later. “

Berberian has bone cancer that has spread to her liver; A year ago she was told she would live another month. She took this as another challenge and moved forward and has since named a day in Boston for her, threw the first throw at Fenway Park and dropped the puck at a Philadelphia Flyers game. And on November 21st, she took part in the Philadelphia Marathon – with the help of friends.
As a big fan of pink, Berberian said to the singer, “Most of my days start with the song of the day and it’s usually a pink song. When I race it’s always a pink song. “
Pink gave her some music back and sang “We Are the Champions” during the call to Queens.
“You have a kind of courage that I don’t understand,” Pink said to Berberian. “You bring comfort to other people as you walk.
