Anne Rice, best known for her bestselling novel Interview with the Vampire, died late Saturday at the age of 80.

Rice died as a result of a stroke, said her son Christopher Rice on her Facebook and Twitter page.

“In her final hours, I sat next to her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and courage,” wrote Christopher Rice in the statement.

Anne Rice was the author of the 1976 novel “Interview with the Vampire,” which was later turned into a film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. He was also expected to be featured in a TV series on AMC and AMC + in 2022.

According to the statement, Rice was to be buried on an unknown date during a private ceremony at a family mausoleum in New Orleans. There was to be a public celebration of life for the next year.
