US Senate candidate Mehmet Oz ends his “Dr. Oz ”talk show next month, and the producers will be replacing it with a cooking show with his daughter.
The “Dr. Oz ”show, its 13th season, will air its final episode on January 14th, Sony Pictures Television announced on Monday.
The heart surgeon and talk show host is running for the US Senate as a Republican in Pennsylvania. Television stations in Philadelphia, New York City, and Cleveland that can be seen in Pennsylvania had “Dr. Oz ”from the air, fearing that the Federal Communications Commission’s“ simultaneous ”rules would allow competing candidates to seek similar airtime.
In many parts of the country, “Dr. Oz ”is replaced by“ The Good Dish ”, a combined talk-cooking show in which the presenters Daphne Oz, Gail Simmons and Jamika Pessoa serve a dish of the day. Manufacturers boasted that it was “the most fun you can have in the kitchen without having to do the dishes”.
The show is the result of a weekly segment on “Dr. Oz, ”much like Oz’s television career, received an early boost from Oprah Winfrey.
Sony said it was required to air “The Good Dish” on channels that represent 90% of the country’s population.
“The Good Dish” starts on January 17th, Sony said.
