CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE) – NextSense, the foundation of brain health, came with an announcement from the American Epilepsy Society (AES) annual meeting in Chicago that NextSense and its partners were sharing their seizure detection research with peers in academia and industry for the first time.
NextSense unlocks brain health with insights from real-world data and practical, scientific insights for everyday life. Traditional brain health monitoring technologies such as EEG machines and polysomnograms are too bulky for home use, requiring patients to stay overnight in hospitals or sleep study clinics for observation. The high maintenance costs and the lack of comfort of these devices make long-term and continuous monitoring almost impossible. Not only are these data based on a single time frame, they also observe what is anything but your ordinary night’s sleep. And for anyone with epilepsy, the unpredictability of seizures makes direct observation and high quality data collection extremely rare.
The NextSense platform starts with longitudinal EEG data collected at the experience point using biosensor earbuds that can be comfortably worn at night and as needed during the day. The company intends to combine this data with environmental and behavioral patterns gathered from smart devices and timely analysis by its team of neuroscientists to help clinicians identify triggers, diagnose specific conditions, and tailor treatment and medication recommendations in real time .
At the AES annual meeting, NextSense first explained its important relationship with biopharma partner UCB. The company also announced research and IP agreements with Heraeus and UC San Diego, as well as a multi-dimensional collaboration with researchers at Emory University.

Emory University’s Brain Health Center, led by world-renowned physician and scientist Allan Levey, is home to several NextSense trials and the first two clinical trials.
