SAN DIEGO – Petco Park announced Saturday that the stadium’s payment processing system used by its concessionaire was down during a game between the San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies nationwide.
Stadium officials said in a tweet that they were working with their concessionaire to get the systems working again, but in the meantime that they would be providing food and drinks for free.

While the stadium said it “accepts offline payments, including cash,” fans told FOX 5 that concession booths appeared ill-equipped for cash transactions and, in most cases, could not process purchases at all. For most fans, food and drinks were available for free from around the seventh inning, contestants said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the patience of our fans,” said a statement from the ballpark. “We will send a notification when all systems are operational again.”
