The Compassion Campaign of the San Diego Veterans For Peace is again distributing free sleeping bag sets to the many homeless people in the city center who have no sleeping equipment at all. Each set consists of a new Coleman Biscayne sleeping bag and a nice nylon pack sack that you can put it in every morning when you wake up.

Their first two outreach trips in 2021 were recently due to COVID-19 restrictions and they handed out 50 bag sets to people whom they personally confirmed had nothing to sleep on in these colder temperatures. Hopefully there will be many more downtown night drives to come this winter based on continued support from the generous people of San Diego.

Each team starts out with 20 sets of bags, sold at sub-wholesale prices for $ 660 from the Coleman Company, their generous sleeping bag supplier for 11 years now. To date, they have distributed 4,500 bag sets downtown, with 2019, the year before COVID-19, being their busiest year ever.

To donate to this local veterans volunteer run that buys sleeping bag sets for every dollar, visit their website at: www.sdvfp.org/donate and learn how to honor a friend or loved one who receives a card or email mentioning you as a benefactor.

Sleeping bag sets are $ 33 each and make a great Christmas / vacation gift. Any amount of donation is possible. All donations are tax deductible for those who indicate that San Diego Veterans For Peace is a 501-C-3 veterans education organization. Visit sdvfp.org.
