After his setback in an interview with Adele, Australian reporter Matt Doran wants the fans to spare him.

Doran, who is one of the hosts of Channel 7’s “The Weekend Sunrise”, flew to London on November 4th to do an exclusive interview with Adele for her album “30”.

During the meeting with the Grammy winner, the TV show host announced that he hadn’t heard the album except for the lead single “Easy on Me”. After the recording, the interview was put on hold, according to The Guardian, and Sony allegedly did not release the footage.

In a statement to E! News, Doran blamed the mishap on an email mistake, saying he was “devastated that her fans were denied this interview”.

“When I sat down to interview Adele, I honestly didn’t realize I had received a preview of her unreleased album by email,” noted Doran, who interviewed the singer prior to the release of “30”. “I later found out it was emailed to me as an e-card link after we landed in London the day before the interview. In my long phone calls with Sony representatives, I was never told in advance that a preview copy would be available. “

“It was an accident,” he continued. “But NO deliberate snub. This is the most important email I have ever missed and I am ashamed and I apologize clearly.”

Doran also brought up reports claiming Adele abruptly left the interview after his inclusion on the album.

“To claim the interview was disrespectful – or Adele left – is wrong,” he said. “In fact, things went well over time and we had a great relationship. Adele was hilarious, engaging, generous, honest, and deep. For the record, I never said, ‘I didn’t hear your album.’ I said, ‘I’ve just had the privilege of hearing’ Easy On Me ‘and it sounds like you’ve produced something extraordinary.’ “

Regarding the highly anticipated album, which broke Apple Music records three weeks before its November 19th release, Doran continued, “As part of a long discussion (estimated to be over 50 percent of the interview) specifically about the new album, I notice that it would be reductive to say that it is about heartbreak and divorce; instead it is about empowerment and hope and the courage it takes to steer one’s life in a different direction. “
