This is not a (construction) exercise: Ty Pennington is married.
The 57-year-old carpenter – who is known for hosting popular home design shows like “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, “Battle on the Beach” and “Trading Spaces” married his social media manager fiancée Kellee Merrell, 33, on Saturday, November 27th.
In true Pennington fashion, the couple were married amid their very own extreme home change. The small ceremony, which only eight people attended, was held at their 19th-century home in Savannah, Georgia, which is currently under renovation, according to People. That was where they held their reception.
To commemorate their wedding day, Pennington posted a photo on Instagram of him and Merrell smiling as they stand in front of a white classic car. Pennington wears a charcoal gray suit with a white buttoned shirt and snuggles tightly against Merrell, who looked stunning in a white dress and blazer combination to ward off the chill at the end of the year.
“We did it,” he wrote.

HGTV colleagues Leanne Ford, Mika Kleinschmidt, Taniya Nayak and the presenter of the most recent reboot of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, Breegan Jane, expressed their joy online for the newly wed couple. Jane wrote: “Congratulations you two! This is so beautiful!”
Pennington and Merrell announced in July that they got engaged earlier this year. He posted a picture of two hands, one of which is wearing an incredible teardrop engagement ring, with the caption, “It’s the ‘yes’ for me …”
The couple, who first met in 2010, reconnected and sparked a lovely relationship last year after being quarantined together on People.
Pennington, who recently starred on Rock The Block, has been very open about his worship of his wife since their date and often posts photos of them traveling, giving their hilarious “modeling lessons”, dressing up as Margo and Todd Chester from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation for Halloween.
“Thank you … Universe … for creating this amazing person … who somehow tolerates me … even if I start to look like Papa Smurf after a Willie Nelson concert,” he shared on Instagram in June.
After their engagement, Pennington told People that Merrell was “a beautiful person inside and out” and that their paths had “finally crossed at the right time” in her life. “It’s one of those things that makes you feel happy to be around someone,” he said. “I never thought I’d get married, but she changed that.
