These birthday gifts are guaranteed to make you smile.

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder’s twins have just turned 17. And although the Oscar-winning actress and cameraman tended to keep their kids out of the spotlight, they made a rare exception over the weekend for Hazel Moder and Phinnaeus Moder’s birthday.

“17 of the sweetest years of life,” wrote Julia, who also shares 14-year-old son Henry Moder with Danny, in an Instagram post on November 28, alongside a photo of the twins as newborns.

Julia’s niece, actress Emma Roberts, annotated the adorable picture that originally appeared on the cover of People with three heart emojis.

In the meantime, Hazel and Phinnaeus’ father also celebrated their birthdays on his social media page. “Those rioters,” Danny captioned a photo of the duo at breakfast. “Today 17th Thank you for helping me through fatherhood.”

In the comments section of the post, many of Danny and Julia’s celebrity friends couldn’t help but rave about their twins. “17 !!!!” Ali Wentworth wrote. “Happy birthday!” While director Alex Richanbach commented, “This is crazy, man. Happy birthday to these two adults!”

Family photos by Julia Roberts & Danny Moder

Though Julia and Danny – who tied the knot in 2002 – have kept their family life very private over the years, their daughter Hazel recently made her red carpet debut. The teenager was photographed at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021 while attending the screening of Flag Day, a film in which Danny was a cameraman.

Days before, Julia and Danny celebrated their wedding anniversary. “Today we’re starting our 20th year of marriage,” wrote Danny in a July 4th Instagram post alongside a selfie of the duo. “This photo was on a dusty road before this big idea came up … just holding onto this beautiful girl one day at a time. One epic day at a time.”

The actress Mona Lisa Smile also marked the special occasion on her Instagram account. “19 years,” she wrote. “I start now!”
