Drake addresses the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld music festival.
The rapper, who made a surprise appearance on stage at Travis Scott’s Show in Houston on Friday November 5th, posted his condolences on Monday November 8th. Eight people were killed at the concert and 25 more were hospitalized, the police previously confirmed.
“I’ve spent the past few days grappling with this devastating tragedy,” Drake said in his post. “I hate using this platform to express such a delicate feeling as sadness, but this is where I find myself.”
He continued, “My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and for everyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them and serve in every way possible. May God be with you all. “
More than a dozen concert-goers have filed lawsuits against Travis and the organizers of the event. One concert goer, Kristian Paredes, named Drake citing negligence in a lawsuit also named Travis, Live Nation and Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation.

According to E! News, Drake allegedly “came on stage with Travis Scott and helped stir up the crowd,” and “the crowd got chaotic and a rush began, leaving eight dead and dozen, including Kristian Paredes seriously injured.”
As more details emerge about the people who died Friday night at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, the authorities are still in the early stages of their investigation.
A spokesman for Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation and the NRG Park venue told E! Messages that read “We are unable to comment on this due to pending litigation and ongoing investigations.”
Live Nation did not respond to E! News’ prior request for comment. E! News previously reached out to Travis and Drake as well.
A day after the Astroworld show, Travis said in a statement posted on Twitter that he was “absolutely devastated by what happened last night.”
“No consideration was given to people’s safety,” said a lawyer for one of the victims killed at the Astroworld concert after filing a lawsuit against concert promoters. “There weren’t enough medical staff, not enough security guards, and there were more people than there should have been.”
Houston Fire Department Public Information Officer Asuncion Cortez said in an email to E! News: “During the celebrations until the end of the festival, around 300 people with minor injuries were treated on site.”
Describing the tragedy as a “mass accident”, he added: “Seventeen patients were transported to nearby hospitals, 12 of these patients were transported by HFD units.”
According to the authorities, eleven of these patients suffered cardiac arrest. The case is still being investigated.
