Actress Angelina Jolie says she is “sad” for audiences who won’t see her new Marvel movie “Eternals” after it was banned for same-sex relationships in several countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar.
“How someone gets angry about it, is threatened by it, does not approve or acknowledge it is ignorant,” Jolie, who plays Thena in the film about a race of immortal superheroes, told Australian news site news.com.au in a round table conversation .
“And I’m proud that Marvel refused to cut those scenes,” she said. “I still don’t understand how we live today in a world that still has it [people who] would not see the Phastos family and the beauty of this relationship and this love. “
According to the deadline, “Eternals” will continue to be available in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. However, the version shown in these countries will remove scenes with any intimacy between characters – both heterosexual and homosexual.
