Bette Midler Shares 1st Look at the Sanderson Sisters in ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ – NBC 7 San Diego

Bette Midler and her “Hocus Pocus” co-stars are back in their witch wardrobes and ready to run Amok, Amok, Amok in the long-awaited sequel to the beloved movie.

The Hollywood legend, 75, tweeted a photo of her and castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, 56, and Kathy Najimy, 64, who all dressed up as the Sanderson sisters on Friday – and let’s just say the snapshot that was nearly 30 Years after the original film debuted, fans fell under its spell.

“Sistaaaaahs! It’s time! ”, Midler captioned the recording, adding that“ Hocus Pocus 2 ”is currently in production and will be released on Disney + in the fall of 2022.

Midler’s tweet came the same day a photo of Parker in full costume as Sanderson’s youngest sister, Sarah, appeared on the set of the sequel in Newport, Rhode Island. The “And Just Like That …” star appears in the pictures in a colorful witch dress and a long wavy blonde wig.

Parker filmed a fairground-themed scene during the Salem Scare Fest, with Newport replacing the sisters’ hometown in spooky Salem, Massachusetts.

Disney announced earlier this month that the new film, which begins 29 years after the 1993 Sandersons accidentally revived the original, had started filming.

According to Entertainment Weekly, in the sequel, Winifred (Midler), Sarah (Parker) and Mary (Najimy) awaken again in today’s Salem, where they use their wizardry to get revenge on those who wronged them. Only three high school students – Becca, Cassie and Izzy – are working to stop their magical mayhem.

Disney’s streaming service first confirmed in December 2020 in a tweet that a sequel to “Hocus Pocus” was in the works.

Midler, Parker and Najimy gave fans a taste of what’s to come when they briefly reunited as their characters in October 2020 for a one-hour charity reunion, “In Search of the Sanderson Sisters: A Hocus Pocus Hulaween Takeover” .
