November 26th: Tree lighting at Liberty Station
This could be one of the tallest trees on this list! Exit to Liberty Station Friday, November 26th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to watch a 28 meter tall Norfolk pine come to life. The tree is lit between 6.15 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. The rest of the evening includes festive fire truck rides, free (yes, free) photos with Santa, and a screening of a fan-favorite Christmas movie. While you’re there, the Rady Children’s Ice Rink is open to skaters from November 18 through January 9, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas.
November 27: Julian’s Country Christmas tree lights
If you are looking for a more rustic tree lighting then Julian’s Country Christmas is the place for you. The small mountain town with fresh air and the scent of freshly baked cakes is guaranteed to put you in the mood. There will be entertainment all afternoon at Pioneer Park, along with tree lights in between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
November 28: Liberty Station Hanukkah and Menorah Lighting
Head to Liberty Station’s Central Promenade for a public menorah lighting to begin the first night of Hanukkah Sunday, November 28th at 5 p.m. Downtown San Diego’s Chabad and Pacific Beach’s Chabad will host the light ceremony along with family-friendly activities and music as part of Liberty Station’s Salute the Season.
November 30th: Seaport Village Menorah Lighting
Celebrate Hanukkah by the water with a menorah lighting at Seaport Village. There will be music and traditional lighting of the menorah. It is held Tuesday, November 30th at 5:30 p.m. through a partnership between the Chabad of Downtown San Diego and Seaport Village. For even more vacation fun, Seaport Village also offers photos with Santa and Christmas carols in December.
Dec 3: Coronado Holiday Parade 2021 Tree and menorah lighting
Coronado is starting to look like Christmas – or it will be soon anyway. The Coronado Chamber of Commerce will have a variety of cars, carts, groups and bands strolling down Orange Avenue to celebrate the holidays on Friday, December 3rd 19 o’clock Christmas carols are also sung while the lights go on in the park.

December 4th: Little Italy Christmas tree lights and Christmas village
Thanks to the Little Italy Association, not just one but two trees will shine brightly this year. Celebrations at Little Italy Christmas Village run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include vendors, live music, and more. If you want to experience the traditional Italian countdown tree lighting it will be in Piazza della Famiglia in 6:30 in the evening
Dec 4, 2021 Encinitas Holiday Parade, Encinitas Rocks! and Tree Lighting
The town of Encinitas is rocking this year for their Christmas parade, which highlights music across generations. Before their parade begins, they will have tree lighting around 17 o’clock at the lumberyard. Santa Claus is also expected to be there to usher in the season. If you’re going to be at Encinitas Rocks! to stay, the city asks all parade participants and spectators to wear face covering.
December 4th: 29th annual Ramona Christmas tree lights
The Ramona Chamber of Commerce has hosted a tree lighting event for nearly three decades – and this year is no different. This year’s event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include vendors, kids’ crafts, photos with Santa, live performers, and more. The tree lighting itself takes place at 6:00 p.m. If you can’t do it, don’t worry. You can enjoy the festive event live on Facebook.
Dec 4th: Tree lighting in San Marcos
The city of San Marcos adorns the halls of 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. A special guest from the North Pole is available for photos until 4:30 p.m. There are also vendors selling various goods and snacks, as well as handicrafts and activities. The annual tree lighting takes place at 5:35 p.m. Note: The city urges you not to miss the “snow” after lighting the tree!
Dec 5: Del Mar Village North Pole by the Sea Tree Lighting
You can write your letter to Santa Claus this year while you wait for the tree lights on the North Pole by the sea in the village of Del Mar. The holiday celebrations go from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and include hot chocolate for kids during the 5pm tree lights with a visit from Santa himself. It takes place in the Jim Watkins Amphitheater in L’Auberge Del Mar, where specialty drinks are also offered for adult visitors.
Dec 11: Poway Christmas in the Park 2021 tree lights
The town of Poway is hosting its old-fashioned Christmas party on Saturday December 11th this year. The event is free and includes Christmas carols, horse-drawn carriages, goodies, handicrafts, and a visit from Santa Claus – among other things. The annual lighting of the Christmas tree is over 5:15 pm Free shuttles to and from the event are available from Poway City Hall and Poway Adult School. Here’s how to ride.
No lighting for Balboa Park
As for the annual tree lighting hosted by The Old Globe in Balboa Park, a spokesman said they won’t be holding an event this year. Instead, visitors can visit the tree from now until the end of the year. They will also re-broadcast last year’s virtual tree lighting on The Old Globe’s YouTube channel instead of gathering a large crowd in person, the spokesman added.
