According to travel experts, the number of air travelers rose sharply in 2021 compared to 2020.
“The travel has been great for the most part,” said Traveler Dianna Brown.
“We’re seeing a 16% increase over last year, at this point and again only about 3% below 2019 levels, and that was a record year,” said Jeffrey Spring, director of corporate communications at AAA.
Over 2 million people traveled on Friday, November 19, according to TSA.
The surge in air travel comes from a 7-year high in gasoline prices, an ongoing pandemic, and reduced flight schedules.
Health professionals urge travelers to follow safety protocols while flying, but they are more concerned about activity when people arrive at their destination.
“I think air travel seems pretty safe for the most part. I will worry more if you achieve your goal. What happens in these smaller rooms where people come together to celebrate and have dinner, ”said Dr. James Hildreth, FDA COVID advisor.
Despite the many factors such as testing, masking, and social distancing, many travelers at San Diego International Airport are happy with the experience.
“It’s a little bit stress-free and fun,” said Dianna Brown.
