San Diego County Music Icon Jason Mraz Gets Slammed on SNL – NBC 7 San Diego

The local Saturday Night Live viewers had a little surprise over the weekend when presenter Kieran Culkin played Jason Mraz. took a surprising turn
It’s been a minute since the singer / songwriter hit coffeehouse hits like “I’m Yours” and “93 Million Miles” with a new catchy tune. For the past several years, Mr. AZ has typically made headlines as Oceanside’s most famous gentlemanly avocado and coffee grower.
However, when a fedora-wearing culkin slipped into an interview chair as Mraz in a sketch based on a Dionne Warwick talk show, hearing Ego Nwodim as Warwick welcomed him to the set was more than a tad tough:
“Now to our next guest,” said Warwick / Nwodim. “This man is no longer famous, he has run out of songs. Please welcome Jason Mraz.”
“A bit of a rough intro, but yeah, I’m really excited to be here,” replied Mraz / Culkin as he settled into his overcrowded chair.
Warwick / Nwodim followed with two questions about Rihanna and Kanye West.
“I’m sorry, can you ask questions about me?” Mraz / Culkin clapped back.
From then on it only went downhill for Mraz / Culkin.
Other “guests” interviewed by Nwodims Warwick included SNL cast members Pete Davidson and Chloe Fineman, who appeared as Post Malone and Miley Cyrus; the real Ed Sheeran (this weekend’s musical guest); and Warwick herself, who tweeted that she was enjoying her performance.
The real Mraz, a Grammy winner, is no stranger to SNL and appeared as a musical guest in January 20009. And in 2013, Joseph Gordon-Levitt also played Mraz in a sketch called “The Mellow Show”. Mraz fared no better in this portrayal than last weekend.
Still not a word on Twitter from Mraz, who last tweeted on November 4th whether he appreciated his latest post.
