Want to avoid feeling gluttonous after gobbling grandma’s turkey on Thanksgiving? Make room in advance for your Thanksgiving celebration at one of San Diego’s annual Turkey Trots.

Turkeys are a fun family affair, so get the kids out of bed and start the vacation with a run. Also, the races benefit the San Diego community in a number of ways.

Thanksgiving Day 5K with Father Joe’s Villages

Thursday November 25th at 7:30 a.m. at Balboa Park

San Diego’s original and oldest Thanksgiving Day turkey trab is back for Thanksgiving 2021.

The race benefits Father Joe’s Villages’ food program and provides funds to feed the homeless.

You can pre-register online or in person at 6:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Warning: The streets around Balboa Park will be closed and parking will be limited so plan accordingly.

O’side Turkey Trot

Thursday November 25 @ 6:45 am at the Oceanside Civic Center

Get your feet moving before you eat Thanksgiving morning at the 16th Annual O’side Turkey Trot in downtown Oceanside.

The O’side Trot has been recognized by Runner’s World and the LA Times as one of the best trabs in the country. In the past, participants from 46 states and 460 cities took part in the race.

Entry fees can be donated to Oceanside School or a nonprofit organization of your choice.

Don’t forget your festive costumes for the costume contest component of the trot!

Encinitas Turkey Trot

Thursday, November 25th at 7 a.m. on D Street and HWY 101

Start your Thanksgiving holiday fun with friends and family at the Encinitas Turkey Trot 5k & 10k. The race starts and ends under the famous “Encinitas” sign on Coast Highway 101.

Embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving and compete in the annual costume contest. Individual and group costumes are valued at cash prizes of $ 100 or more.

You can register online before the race or in person at 6:00 a.m.

Thanksgiving Day Thank You Run 5K

Thursday, November 25th at 7:30 a.m. at 4S Ranch Sports Park

The 12th annual Thanksgiving Day Thank You Run 5K and Kids 1K is personal again. The 3 miles begins on Dove Creek Rd., Meanders through the 4S Ranch Master’s Association trails, and ends at 4S Ranch Sports Park.

The race will benefit the ALS Association of Greater San Diego.

If you needed another incentive to complete your run, there is free beer at the finish for participants 21 and over.

Coronado 5k Turkey Trot

Thursday, November 25th at 8am at Tidelands Park

Celebrate its 8th anniversary with the Coronado Turkey Trot.

The run is hosted by Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, Coronado Unit and supports child health at Rady Children’s Hospital. This year they hope to raise $ 100,000 at a trot.

Registration is open online and ends on November 17, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.
