Will Ferrell’s memory of the “Eleven” sequel, which never quite happened, is unlikely to get fans to sing out loud for everyone to hear.
During a cover story for the comedy edition of The Hollywood Reporter, the 54-year-old actor spoke about his decision to say no to a sequel to director Jon Favreau’s popular 2003 vacation film, which also starred James Caan and Zooey Deschanel.
According to THR, a script had been written for the follow-up and Ferrell was offered a whopping $ 29 million to repeat his role as Buddy the Christmas Elf. However, the star ultimately decided he wouldn’t be proud to make the second film as it felt like he was just reliving the original magic.
“I should have been promoting the film from an honest point of view, which would have been, ‘Oh no, it’s not good. I just couldn’t turn down that much money,'” he said frankly. “And I was like, ‘Can I really say those words? I don’t think I can, so I guess I can’t do the movie.'”

While on a visit to Watch What Happens Live in 2017, a fan asked Ferrell if he would ever do sequels to 1998’s “Elf” or “A Night at the Roxbury”. Ferrell jokingly replied, “I have great news for you,” before quickly adding, “No.”
When Andy Cohen pointed out that this was good news because the first ones are “so great,” Ferrell agreed, saying, “Just leave them alone, right?”
