Courtesy of California, a new face is coming to the Twin Cities news media.

Reporter and news producer Jack Molmud, who currently works for CBS News 8 San Diego, has announced that he will join the KARE 11 lineup in September:

He also announced that he will be working with Boyd Huppert – known for his “Land of 10,000 Stories” segments on KARE – to “find, write and report stories on the subway.”

“The time I spent at KARE at the beginning of the year really rubbed off on me and I’m thrilled,” he added in a follow-up tweet.

His time in Minnesota included reporting on the Derek Chauvin trial for CBS News 8, which he conducted in collaboration with KARE 11, a “sister station” of News 8 (both owned by media company Tegna). You can see part of this work here:

Molmud also says he will be sure to get fed up with the San Diego lifestyle before heading to Minnesota, namely “IPAs and Burritos on the West Coast”.

He ended the announcement by inviting “the great people of Minnesota” to send him stories, noting that he was passionate about higher education, politics, and contributions to social justice.

According to his LinkedIn biography, Molmud is a graduate of San Diego State University, where he began writing and presenting stories for the campus newspaper Daily Aztec.

Before joining CBS News 8, he interned with KUSI TV and Voice of San Diego.
