After a five-month temporary closure, Underbelly will reopen in Little Italy on Thursday, November 18, which happens to be the 10th anniversary of its original debut in 2011. Continuing its efforts to update some of its long-standing restaurants and bars, including redesigning the Soda & Swine neighborhood and hub in Fortunate Son, CH Projects has turned its ramen commercial into a Blade Runner-esque cyberpunk vision of futuristic Tokyo that encompasses almost every inch of the compact restaurant on the corner of Fir Street and Kettner Boulevard bathed in neon light.

With retractable liquor shelves stretching from the ceiling and a remodeled kitchen and bar, the restaurant now serves a larger menu that’s in line with its North Park counterparts with its classic ramen and appetizer, bao, and bento boxes. It also has fresh cocktails created by CH Projects bar director Andrew Cordero based on unique glassware and Japanese flavors, from Neo Noir with scotch, koji, barley honey, lemon and egg white to Sakura Falls, a blend of Japanese gin, Nigori sake, coconut cream, sakura blossom and lime. The new cocktails will initially hit the market in Little Italy before making their way to North Park next week.
