CH Projects takes over the private club and Roman Trattoria
The prolific hospitality group behind Born & Raised and Ironside is bringing The Reading Club, a members-only club, to the 20th floor of the InterContinental San Diego, the waterfront hotel near downtown San Diego. The private club offers amenities such as meeting rooms, a library and a listening room. It will also be hooked up to a northern Italian restaurant called Seneca – and the restaurant will be open to the public. The reading club will only host 400 members. To be accepted, one must apply online and answer personal questions such as, “What would your autobiography be called?” Approved members must pay an annual subscription.
Local chef chooses North Park for his first solo project
Ronnie Schwandt, a native of San Diegan who worked with Blue Bridge Hospitality and the Trust Restaurant Group, will be opening his first independent restaurant in North Park next month. The 55-seat Verbena Kitchen comes to University Avenue with a hyper-seasonal menu highlighting products and ingredients from North Park Farmer’s Market and other local suppliers.
