Classics 4 Kids’ Gala – The San Diego Union-Tribune
[ad_1]
The Classics 4 Kids’ Gala recently took place at the Santaluz Club in Rancho Santa Fe. The outdoor event raised $ 98,000 to support the nonprofit’s music education programs, including live orchestral concerts in Spring 2022 at the Balboa Theater, school gatherings, and interactive virtual meet and greets with a professional musician or conductor.
The guest speaker at the gala was Sharon Whitehurst-Payne, Vice President of the San Diego Unified School District Board.
Founded in 1994, Classics 4 Kids is a non-profit performing arts education organization dedicated to inspiring children through music and promoting creativity, academic success, and cultural understanding. The group aims to provide Title 1 low-income elementary schools with access to music education programs that would otherwise not be available due to cuts in school budgets and low-income art barriers. Last year the organization reached more than 36,000 students – more than ever in its 28-year history.
