The renowned Mexican chef brings a piece of Baja to Oceanside
Chef Roberto Alcocer from the acclaimed Malva Cocina de Baja is presenting his first project in the USA this weekend at Oceanside’s Mission Pacific Hotel. Called Valle, the Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant is a message from Baja cuisine and showcases some of the region’s finest ingredients. Iconic Mission Bay site revived as a vegan cafe
A striking ’60s building in Mission Bay that used to be a visitor center has been renovated and reopened into a complex with a new vegan cafe, beach boutique, and municipal winery. Also in the works: a wood-fired pizzeria and wine bar.
38 restaurants in San Diego
Eater’s regularly updated list of 38 must-see San Diego County’s restaurants spans all price ranges, neighborhoods, and a variety of cuisines. From fine restaurants to mom and pop shops, the must-try group of restaurants includes the latest local recipients of a coveted Michelin star.
Wolfie’s Carousel Bar, a restaurant with a unique centerpiece: a carousel bar that rotates slowly, is new to the neighboring town of Little Italy from San Diego.
All-in-one market, café and bar open in Encinitas
Mrkt Space is North County’s new hangout and features a gourmet market and an all-day coffee shop and restaurant with a menu ranging from breakfast toasts to Italian flatbreads and sausage boards. Look for more places to show up in La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe.
Urban Winery expands to Liberty Station and Oceanside
Carruth Cellars, San Diego’s largest urban winery, is moving its manufacturing facility from Solana Beach to Oceanside, where it will operate a tasting room alongside a brewery and mobile grocery vendors. The winery is also planning a huge tasting room and restaurant for Liberty Station, due to open next spring.
