SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Thousands of state lawmakers, business leaders, policy experts, and civic groups meet in San Diego for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) 2021 States and Nation Policy Summit.

The ALEC summit is intended for attendees to come together and develop research-based guidelines that focus on limited government, free enterprise, and individual freedom.

Former Senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum will attend the summit and explain how it works with Jason Austell from KUSI at Good Morning San Diego.

Santorum declared that the Founding Fathers of the United States were prepared for a time when the federal government would be too powerful and included in Article V of the Constitution a way for the people to regain power.

Santorum said, “There are two ways to change the constitution: first, Congress can propose constitutional changes, and second, state legislatures can pass a resolution, and if two-thirds of the states, in this case 34, pass a similar resolution , a convention of all states will be convened to consider changes to the constitution. “

It goes on to say: “The resolutions that we propose would allow constitutional changes that would limit the power of the federal government.”

. @ RickSantorum and the participants of the ALEC summit hope to limit the power of our federal government.

When 34 legislatures pass their resolution, a convention of all states will be convened to review amendments to the US Constitution. Https://t.co/3YmXgmLsom
