With two clicks, Rescu connects you with a private dispatcher to send police, fire brigade or ambulance in hopes of making it easier and faster
EL CAJON, Calif. – A near tragedy resulted in an emergency app created by an El Cajon family. Rescu provides a personal emergency dispatcher with one click of the app.
Piscatelli’s family-owned Watchlight Corporation has existed in San Diego County for decades.
“We have been in private security, private shipping, and public security for 49 years,” said Paolo Piscatelli.
He and his brother Niccolo developed the Rescu app.
“When you are in your worst moments and may not be able to speak or communicate effectively with the 911 operator, you can double-press a button and get help to your home,” said Nicollo Piscatelli.
You can choose fire brigade, police or ambulance
The app is personal for the family.
“Our father had a medical emergency in 2016,” said Paolo.
Her father Paul had a stomach ache and had difficulty getting his emergency over to 911.
“[They asked] ‘Sir, could you calm down, please?’ ‘What’s your next cross street?’ ‘On a scale of 1-10, how much pain are you in?’ ”Paolo said. “It took about 45 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.”
After his father recovered, he and his sons went to work to make it easier and faster for 911.
“It hits near home. We knew we had to change a way to get emergency services, ”said Paolo.
The 9-1-1 communication system is way back. The system was built from landlines in 1968, and 911 couldn’t be written anywhere in San Diego County until 2021.
9-1-1, the last system in the county that allowed text. However, there is still a lot to be done to make it more efficient nationwide.
“That’s the future. This is undoubtedly where the industry is going or should be, ”Niccolo said.
Once you’ve downloaded the app, there’s an annual subscription for $ 59 or Prime Rescu for $ 99 a year.
Since your personal information such as your name, your address, your location, your type of emergency if you have diabetes are already loaded in the app, many questions that private dispatchers have to ask when chatting live via SMS or the phone are avoided.
Since the security company already had private dispatchers, these also take the call or SMS in Rescu.
“We want to review emergencies and reduce false positives and false positives, and improve communication and data with our first responders,” said Paolo.
You can save emergency contacts in the app and they will be notified when there is a response.
This has become a lifesaver for some churches.
“We did not see the impact on the deaf community. We didn’t know what fight they were having, ”said Niccolo.
Her father has since passed away, but the brothers believe he would be proud of their newest ambulance service.
“It could save the life of you or a loved one,” said Paolo.
