SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Starting a business is big, but a program in southeast San Diego is trying to help.
The Jacobs Center’s Connect All accelerator program helps young to middle incomes to help aspiring entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground.
“It’s the people in the community who are really trying to build their business. We take them through a 4 month program where they get everything from mentoring to physical jobs, ”said Alex Waters, director of economic development and innovation.
Waters said the co-working space is back after a hiatus during the pandemic. Connect All members get access to lessons on how to get their business off the ground no matter what it is.
“We believe the business fundamentals are pretty universal for all types of businesses, and that’s what our focus is on building that foundation over the long term.”
To be part of the Connect All program; People must have a low to middle income, have an early-stage business plan, and be a San Diego based resident.
“The goal and hope in the long run is to really create a vibrant opportunity for the people who are there.”
Waters said they are really trying to reach the most vulnerable and underserved communities and business owners who know what they want but need a little help to get there.
“How can we put resources in the hands of people who can really use them and have a positive influence.”
