Thanksgiving is here! With many enjoying Turkey Day, here is what what you can expect to see open and closed in San Diego County’s holidays.
Closed:
- All administrative offices of the city and the district
- Urban recreation centers
- All libraries will be closed
- County-operated COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites
- The Mission Trails Regional Park visitor center is closed
- All reservoirs in the city will be closed
- All public buildings in Balboa Park will be closed including:
- Balboa Park Leisure Center
- Botanical building
- Prado house
- Urban gym
- War memorial building
- All city leisure centers and city pools will be closed
- The Tecolote Nature Center will be closed
- The Lakeside Teen Center / REC Club is closed Monday 25 November through Friday 29 November
- The center for family law. Individuals in need of assistance with domestic violence should call 911 and / or the domestic violence hotline at 1-888-385-4657
Open minded:
- Golf courses and starting stands are open until dusk. Holiday rates apply
- The following skate parks are open:
- Bill and Maxine Wilson Skatepark
- Carmel Valley Skatepark
- Charles L. Lewis III Memorial Skatepark
- Rancho Peñasquitos skatepark
- Robb Field Skatepark
- City Heights Skatepark
- Nice Vista Skatepark
- Essential services, including sheriff’s department patrols and animal control emergency procedures, remain open
- County Parks and Campgrounds (Except: Fallbrook Community Center, Lakeside Community Center, Lakeside Teen Center / REC Club, Spring Valley Community Center, Te Spring Valley Teen Center / REC Club, Spring Valley Gym, and the 4S Ranch Sports Park offices)
The district’s animal shelters will resume their regular opening hours on Saturday, November 27th.
All other district offices will reopen during regular business hours on Monday, November 29th.
Park
Parking meters and time restrictions for parking on streets are not enforced along with yellow zones.
Garbage collection
There will be a one-day delay for roadside litter, recyclable materials and garden waste. (Applies to residents of the city of San Diego only. Residents of other cities should check with their waste handler for the holiday roster.)
The Miramar landfill, green and recycling center will be closed. The container sales are closed. Call 858-694-7000 for regular opening hours and questions.
